Bikes on the Trails

Check The Santa Margarita River Trail Map for bike trails

No electric or pedal assist bikes are allowed on any of our trails. Mountain bikes and peddle bikes are welcomed on the south side of the river. There is a No Bike zone on the north side of the river. So check the trail map. We provide 3 Bike Bell stations at the trail kiosks. PLEASE take a bell to hang on your handle bars. Hikers and horses can hear you jiggle down the trail as a warning that you are nearby. Return the bell to any of the 3 stations on your way out.

The Santa Margarita River Trail Map shows trails located near Fallbrook, California that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is used for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. It is accessible year-round. It is a multi-use trail that bikers need to share safely and keep speeds down especially going downhill and around blind corners.

The trail begins at the main parking lot on Sandia Creek Road, off De Luz Road. Please stay on the marked trails. The trail follows along the river through a variety of scenery: shady woodlands, stunning boulders, dusty and dry chaparral. Bike riders must stay on the Fallbrook side of the river: DO NOT CROSS THE RIVER. All the north side trails are restricted to no bikes.

Bikes Must Yield to Everyone. Please stop and pull off to the side of the trail.
